Silliness

Pilllip II of Macedon National Stadium, Skopje, Macedonia.

The aforementioned Phillip was the first of only two national managers who led successful European campaigns.

(Skopje is in a bowl in the mountains and is a smoggy city. Getting clear photographs is sometimes difficult).

I'm not sure how being the last commander to lead a succssful invasion of Afghanistan constitutes a "European campaign"

Yes, more an Asian campaign.

Unfortunately, an Asian campaign for a soccer team involves playing exhibition matches in Tokyo, so the sentence wouldn't have worked quite so well.

Alexander did beat the teams in modern day Turkey, and Turkey is a UEFA member, but it wasn't populated by people who we would recognise as Turks, so it is still a stretch, I fear.
